Alabama land grants and land patents collection, 1810-1854.

This collection of land grants and land patents documents land purchases made at various U.S. land offices in Ala. from ca.1819-1850. The land offices include Cahaba (Dallas Co.), Demopolis (Sumter Co.), Huntsville (Madison Co.), Sparta (Conecuh Co.), St. Stephen's (Washington Co.), and Tuscaloosa (Tuscaloosa Co.). Each document contains the name of the purchaser (and sometimes his home county), the land office handling the transaction, the location of the purchased land (usually by range and township numbers), and the date of purchase.
